Administered by PSI on behalf of the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), this exam tests state-specific and national real estate knowledge, including contracts, fair housing, and brokerage operations.
- Exam format: Computer-based, multiple-choice.
- Duration: 3.5 hours.
- Eligibility: Completion of 75 hours of pre-license education from an approved school.

Illinois Real Estate Broker Exam FAQs
What is the passing score?
Passed exams are valid for one year. A ILREP passing score varies based on the examination. A full description of examinations and passing scores can be found in the candidate handbook.
Can I retake the exam?
If you do not pass the licensing exam after completing your courses, you may retake the exam up to three times (on different days). If you do not pass the exam on the fourth attempt, you must retake the pre-license coursework before registering again for the exam.
