GLENDALE, CA – PSI Services (PSI) has promoted Tanya Guerrero Haug to the role of Vice President for the HiSET® High School Equivalency Test. Tanya’s commitment and experience with the HiSET over the past 10 years afford her an in-depth understanding of the needs and challenges of the adult education community and make her a uniquely ideal candidate for the role.
A passionate advocate for the HiSET, Tanya will assume strategic leadership for the program immediately with a focus on the needs of the test taker community and the advocates that support them. After PSI’s completed transition of the program from Educational Testing Service (ETS) in 2022, Tanya is excited and ready to take the HiSET program from transition to growth and the next steps in its evolution, supporting high school equivalency, workforce development and English learners.

Tanya enters this new role having spent the past 20 years building collaborative state relationships and solidifying an expertise in educational assessments. Most recently, she served for five years as National Director for the HiSET, working closely with accepting states and serving as the subject matter expert for the HiSET program.
Raised in south Texas, Tanya was the first in her family to complete her college education on a traditional path. With a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas-San Antonio, a master’s degree from Rutgers University, and a rich professional background in the areas of higher education, K-12 assessments, and high school equivalency exams, Tanya’s expertise is the perfect fit for the next phase of HiSET’s growth.

Some individuals who seek a high school credential may lack the opportunity to experience a traditionally structured high school teaching and learning environment. The HiSET program seeks to help these individuals identify, acquire, and demonstrate the knowledge and skills that they will need to succeed in post-secondary education and in the workplace.
The HiSET was originally co-developed by Educational Testing Service (ETS) and Iowa Testing Programs (ITP) in furtherance of ETS’s mission to provide innovative and meaningful measurement solutions that improve teaching and learning, expand educational opportunities, and inform educational policy.
In late 2021, the HiSET was purchased by PSI Services, LLC as an extension of its mission to help people meet their potential. On a practical level, given PSI’s strong presence in the US domestic certification market, PSI believes that there is considerable potential to grow the program, both through increased adoption by states and greater uptake among test takers, as well as exploiting synergies and broadening the range of associated products and services on offer from PSI’s wider portfolio.
