The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN) has renewed its partnership with PSI, leading testing provider. This extended collaboration solidifies PSI’s role as AACN’s full-service testing partner, reaffirming their commitment to advancing the highest standards of critical care and progressive care nursing.
Building upon a partnership that began in 2001, PSI’s services encompass test center and live online proctoring delivery, as well as psychometric/test development services.

One of the critical factors contributing to the program’s success was the ability to leverage the expertise of certified nurses who serve as Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) during AACN’s annual examination development process.
In addition to traditional test center delivery, PSI supported AACN’s transition to live online proctoring delivery, allowing candidates to take their tests securely and conveniently from remote locations. This advancement in testing technology has proven especially valuable during the challenging circumstances presented by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In response to COVID-19, both organizations worked together and calibrated every phase of the examination development process to prioritize safety and security, ensuring that test takers can proceed with confidence. As healthcare becomes increasingly complex, the partnership between AACN and PSI remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining and enhancing the highest standards of excellence in nursing certification.
AACN’s focus on security aligns seamlessly with PSI’s dedication to test security. The transition of AACN’s flagship exams to Linear On-the-Fly Testing (LOFT), a method that enhances security, was a significant achievement in their partnership. PSI ensured that security features were augmented while adhering to AACN’s standards and practices.
